• Introduced in France in 1839, the Safrano rose is a significant heirloom, considered by some to be the first rose successfully created by hand pollination. It displays the best qualities of early roses, with classic pointed tea buds that open to large, three-inch blooms in soft shades of saffron, apricot, and cream. The new growth is deep plum/bronze, providing an attractive contrast to the flowers. True to its heritage, Safrano has a strong tea scent and is a perpetual bloomer.
• Care: When mature, plant in a full-sun location with fertile, well-draining soil. Water deeply, allowing the soil to dry between waterings to prevent over-saturation. Fertilize with a slow-release formula at planting, then each Spring and early Fall. Prune to shape after blooms fade. Monitor for issues, but regular preventative spraying is not needed.
