The Pineapple pear tree needs around 200 chill hours, thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soil and full sunlight, and is more tolerant of heavy clays than most fruit trees. It is also fire blight resistant. The Pineapple pear tree blooms in early to late spring and begins to ripen in July through August.
