• The Kona Sugarloaf is a large, sweet pineapple, often weighing five or six pounds. This white-fleshed fruit is very juicy and has a high sugar content and low acidity. The center is less woody than other pineapple varieties and because of this, can be eaten.
• Does best in a well-drained, sandy loam type soil. Warm temperture is essential, but can be a potted houseplant in colder climates. Requires high Nitrogen and Magnesium to increase fruit size. Soil PH: 4.5 to 6.5, Zones 9-11.
• Waxy, strap-like leaves are not serated in this variety.
