Features:

  • Planting Hole: Dig a hole that is approximately twice the size of the root ball of the grafted sapodilla tree.
  • Planting: Carefully remove the sapodilla tree from its container, being cautious not to disturb the roots. Place the tree in the planting hole, ensuring that the graft union (the bulge where the scion and rootstock meet) is above the soil level.
  • Backfilling: Fill the hole with soil, gently firming it around the base of the tree to remove air pockets. Water the tree thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the roots.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first few months after planting. Once established, sapodilla is somewhat drought-tolerant, but regular watering during dry spells is beneficial.
  • Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) during the growing season, typically in spring and summer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates.
  • When you receive the plant, please water it daily and keep it in the pot for about 2 weeks before planting it in the ground.

Details: Important Shipping & Care Notice (Live Sapodilla Plants): This is a live sapodilla plant. Temporary leaf drop, wilting, or cosmetic stress after shipping is normal and does not indicate poor health. Sapodilla trees are sensitive to cold, wind, and transplant shock. Transit conditions and temperature changes may affect the plant’s appearance upon arrival. Care & Planting Instructions After Arrival: Unbox immediately upon delivery to prevent heat or moisture damage. Water thoroughly on the first day; keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Place in a warm location with bright, indirect sunlight for 2–3 days, then gradually move to full sun. Plant in the ground or into a larger container using well-draining soil. Keep temperatures above 50°F at all times and protect from cold, wind, and heavy rain. Do not fertilize for 2–3 weeks to allow the plant to recover from shipping and transplant stress.
