A small to medium-sized evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia. Known as the Fairy Petticoat Tree for its unique, fringed, bell-shaped white flowers.
Prefers full to partial sun and consistently moist, well-drained soil. Regular watering is key, especially in its first few years. Feed with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season.
Care: When mature, plant in fertile, well-draining soil or potting media in full sun to very light shade. Water as needed to maintain consistent soil moisture, but avoid overwatering. Overly saturated plants become spotted, weak, thin, and fail to flower as expected. Feed a good quality, slow-release, bloom-boosting fertilizer initially and repeat annually in spring. Prune after flowering to control size, shape.
Indoor Growing: Not a good candidate due to size, light, temperature and humidity requirements.
Climate: Thrives in USDA Hardiness Zones 10-11. It is a tropical tree and is not frost-tolerant.
