Details: A small, stacked Crassula variety known for its compact size and drought tolerance. Native to Namibia and South Africa, this dwarf succulent is well-suited to hot, arid, rocky environments. Its thick, triangular leaves, which measure less than 0.4 inches, are designed to store water, enabling the plant to survive long dry periods. 'Tom Thumb' thrives in bright sunlight, which enhances the red edges of its leaves. It prefers well-draining pots filled with gritty soil and requires only occasional deep watering when the soil has completely dried out. Though this branching shrub remains compact in a pot, it can eventually grow to over 6 inches long, cascading attractively from containers. During spring and early summer, 'Tom Thumb' may produce small clusters of delicate white flowers. Crassulas often have tiny white or black specks on their leaves, known as hydathodes. These pores help with water transfer and are a natural, healthy feature of the plant, not an indication of disease.
