Details: Bambusa Oldhamii is one of my personal favorites. It is just so majestic! The canes will grow to 4 inches in diameter and it can grow up to 55 feet in height! The sheaths of new canes can show some pink or mauve colors as shown in the first picture but the colors do rather fade to tan as they age. Oldhamii will be hardy to 20 degrees and can go colder, but will have some top growth die back when lower than 20 degrees. This bamboo is straight and erect, so the canes can be used for many purposes including furniture and garden structure construction. It can be used in the landscape as a specimen plant or as a hedge row. If you are considering a hedge, spacing should be approximately 7 feet apart. My plants are growing in 1 gallon pots. The pot will be removed and wrapped to retain moisture with watering gels for it’s time in-transit. Your plants are guaranteed to arrive safely and alive.
