Details: Baby Joe offers the same look as the commonly grown variety but at a much smaller scale. This makes it much easier to fit into the middle of the flower border or even into large containers. Baby Joe has sturdy dark purple-red stems, dark green foliage, and large panicles of mauve-purple flowers. Butterflies are attracted in droves to this beautiful little plant! This plant is also nice for adding color in the garden at a time when many other plants are finished for the season. Even though the fruit is not ornamentally significant the burgundy stems can be quite attractive. Plants should be cut all the way back after they are finished flowering. At maturity this plant will reach 2-3 ft. in height and a 1-2 ft. spread. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions, can be expected to live for approximately 15 years. It is deer and rabbit resistant. Zone 3-8. Prefers full sun to part shade with average moisture with good drainage. It will tolerate some standing water and is not particular to soil type.
