The ever popular shasta daisy is a robust perennial which gets 2-3 ft (0.6-0.9 m) tall and grows in a bushy clump with foliage spreading about 18' across. Shasta daisies bloom over a long period from early summer to autumn with happy bright white flowerheads borne singly atop long green stems. The heads are 2-5 in (5.1-12.7 cm) across with snow white ray flowers and golden yellow discs. The foliage grows in a mat with glossy dark green leaves 8-12 in (20.3-30.5 cm) long arranged in a basal rosette. The leaves are strap shaped, nearly evergreen, and rather thick. There are smaller leaves on the erect flowering stems. Shasta daisy is sometimes confused with ox-eye daisy (L. vulgare), which is a smaller plant that blooms earlier with smaller flowerheads only 1-2 in (2.5-5.1 cm) across.
